BharatBenz History

Daimler made its first entry into the country in 1950. In 1954, in collaboration with a domestic partner, Daimler introduced India to the first heavy-duty truck, the ‘TATA Mercedes-Benz’. The genes of trucking were well sowed and have remained at the heart of Indian trucking, ever since.

In 2012, Daimler introduced BharatBenz in India with one definite promise – To Transform the Indian Commercial Vehicle Industry. BharatBenz symbolizes the harmonious confluence of the values, ideologies and spirit of India with the lineage of invention, innovation, and engineering excellence that have led to generations of Daimler’s global automotive leadership. BharatBenz is committed to be an integral part of the advancement of the Indian economy by providing commercial mobility solutions that will accelerate the progress of business in India.

In less than 4 years from the launch of the first BharatBenz truck, the brand has already established itself as a strong contender in a very competitive marketplace with a range of products from 9-49 ton. In 2015, Daimler opened yet another chapter in the Indian Commercial Vehicle sector with the launch of BharatBenz buses.
